Tony Grundy has a number of interrelated specialisms including:- Strategic diagnosis of underperforming businesses and development of turnaround strategies
- Challenge to the mind sets and assumptions of existing management, and skills in facilitating fresh thinking and necessary decision making
- Helping management to focus on economic value creation, and avoiding value dilution or destruction
- Managing costs down without undermining competitive position and thus sales
- Evolving restructuring, renewal or divestment strategies
- Dealing effectively with management process issues – including stakeholder management and communication, project and change management

Experience
Tony has extensive experience of turnaround, restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, managing economic value, performance improvement and strategic cost management gained at KPMG and independently over 25 years. He has worked with a broad variety of companies warranting special and extra attention-in diverse sectors including; banking and financial services, distribution, IT and telecoms, leisure, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, retail, energy and utilities. His work has led to major cost reduction, selective divestment and renewed growth – and increased profitability.
His work has sometimes been to perform an independent business appraisal, to co-manage with existing management, to facilitate strategic decision making or to act as strategic coach, or to shadow CEO decision making – or a blend of this.
Education/other
Tony is an Accountant and MBA, has a Doctorate in Strategy and Economic Value, and holds two Masters in organisational management and in strategic team building. He has had 17 books published including;“Mergers and Acquisitions”, “Shareholder Value”, “Smart Routes To Growth”, “Strategic Financial Management” and“Be Your Own Strategy Consultant”.
He is also author of innumerable articles and corporate finance digests including:“Divestment-Breaking Up is Hard To Do”, “Getting Economic Value from Growth”, “Integrating Acquisitions” and “Managing Costs Strategically”.
He has evolved a unique set of processes and tools for developing and evaluating business and financial strategies, for cost management, managing organisational change and managing projects.
Tony is also Senior Visiting Fellow at Cranfield where he has taught for fifteen years and Visitor in Corporate Finance at Henley Business School.
